Organic Corn Getting Harder And Harder To Find

Vitamin C is going to get more important in the years to come.  If you are taking it right now, most vitamin C is synthesized from corn.  Be aware that about 88% of u.s. corn production is now GMO.  Just another way for “our friends” to kill us off…….

Organic Corn Getting Harder And Harder To Find

GMO_vs_Organic_Corn
For those that follow an organic diet and possibly are on the front lines fighting for food freedom and those that understand the details of genetically modified (GMO) foods and heirloom seeds, you will understand when it is mentioned that organic or heirloom corn and corn seed is becoming harder and harder to find. Truthfully, if you are trying to steer clear of any GMO food and follow an organic or just anon GMO diet, you should understand that almost all the corn sold in supermarkets as well as farmers markets is genetically modified corn. BT toxin is the most popular corn sold right now.
Whether it is for cows, chickens, pigs, humans, deer, whatever it is for, it is almost positively BT Toxin corn and organic corn or non GMO corn is not at all easy to find now. According to, Eco’ RI News, an environmental news site for southern New England, in an article dated August 10, “GMO corn has been linked to pesticide tolerant “super weeds.” Scientists haven’t thoroughly explored the implications of genetically modified corn on human health or the environment, particularly over the long term, according to this Environmental Working Group report.”
The Organic and Non GMO Report, said, in an article dated earlier this year, that “Preserving heirloom seeds is a life-affirming action—ensuring a continued supply of healthy, genetically diverse foods amid external challenges such as climate shifts. But that task is increasingly difficult for growers and seed savers, particularly with corn. The near omnipresence of genetically modified corn88% of US corn—is causing contamination of non-GMO, organic, and heirloom corn varieties, with irreversible damage to the genetic purity of these valuable agricultural and cultural assets.”
There are some reports to farmers turning their backs on GMO corn seed now that they have seen enough physical evidence that GMO varieties such as, BT Toxin and roundup ready corn, are not holding up to what their makers stated. The corn does not perform well under certain conditions where organic and conventional hybrid seeds does. Did you know that BT Toxin corn is sold in supermarkets around the country and sold for human consumption because science is not allowed to “officially” test the validity of GMO seed being dangerous to humans?
It’s true, and did you know that BT Toxin Corn seed is genetically engineered to produce it’s own pesticide that kills bugs and worms when they eat the corn? This is also true, if this corn produces it’s own pesticide then what is the impact of a human being eating a pesticide directly? Well, simply put it is poison. Some people see problems right away with leaky gut syndrome and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Some people see problems further down the line with new food allergies showing up as they age and cancer as well as massive weight gain, that seemingly can not be controlled.
As organic corn becomes harder and harder to find, it makes since that we should be growing heirloom corn and saving the seed. Hybrid seeds are usually engineered so that the seed cannot be regrown. That means if you save the hybrid seed, it will usually not grow or not grow right and it really never produces as it did on it’s first round. So becausegardening is not as popular as it once was and for those that are gardening now, corn growing seems to not be as popular as it used to be. Growing organic corn is labor intensive and so this drives the price of the corn up, this of course cuts into farmers profits and so not many people will grow organic corn now as it does not make much income.
According to the USDA, “40 percent of U.S. corn is converted to ethanol, 37 percent becomes livestock feed, and 11 percent is made into corn syrup, corn powders and cooking oil. Much of the rest is exported.” For only a small percentage of farmers that small number of consumption in the summer months is worth growing conventional corn. Jerre Gettle of rareseeds.com, says, “Seeds need to be treasured and preserved—not patented, genetically modified and controlled by the world’s most unethical chemical corporations who see seeds as only a means of control and profit.”
Still GMO seeds, crops are to blame for the ever increasing disappearance of our heritage seeds, namely corn seed. Since GMO seeds entered the world’s stage in the early 1990′s, we have seen heirloom corn seed disappearing. Heirloom and organic crops are contaminated with GMOs now and every year, when testing occurs, we see less and less heirloom corn seed that is NOT contaminated. What can you do? Simply put, grow heirloom corn and save the seed, pass it out and encourage others to do the same. Last but not least, stop buying any corn that is not organic, stop supporting the GMO food industry with your dollar.
