BIGGER: Political Assassination - the American Way

SOL: This year old article from SEPTEMBER 8, 2016 about Trump by an excellent International journalists Finian Cunningham, was an accurate forecast of Trump’s political future. HOWEVER, the American “establishment's” MSM has assaulted Trump with every possible political weapon available for a year now and not only has Trump survived against attacks from members of both political parties, but even impossible odds to still became President of the United States. What could eventually turn HIS American voters against him just may end up being his own doing. The Neocons and members of the “establishment” that he has chosen to surrounded himself is steering him into huge obstacles causing too much confusion as to his position on real issues. It seems that Trump has now taken a detour from his original bumpy “road to change” to an old worn country road so deeply grooved that makes it very difficult to steer his administration out of this establishment’s very deep ruts. It makes those that put him into the White House to begin questioning what direction he is attempting to lead us and if we will still be ruled by the same “Deep State” we voted against. ONLY TIME WILL TELL!

Donald Trump has entered a political kill zone. And the American establishment is lining up to take him out. We are talking here in virtual terms - at least thus far.
Nowadays, political assassination by US powers-that-be does not necessarily involve physical liquidation of the individual deemed to be an enemy of the state. Who needs all that blood and controversy? Especially when character assassination achieves the same desired end result — that is, elimination of target from the public domain.
The fierce media crossfire that the Republican presidential contender is being subjected to leaves little doubt that this is a concerted effort to destroy this politician.
In the past week, we have seen a fusillade of vilification fired at the New York property tycoon-turned presidential hopeful. Everything, it seems, has been thrown at him, from his Slovenian-born wife's alleged US visa violations, to his bullying of crying babies at rallies, to his serving as an unwitting agent for Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
It's so transparent and preposterous, it is almost hilarious.
Evidently, the US corporate news media are out to bring Trump down in spite of his stubborn support among ordinary Republican voters. It is obvious that the Washington establishment has determined that Democrat rival Hillary Clinton is the preferred choice to protect their privileged interests as the next occupant of the White House.
And the US media — as a pillar of the establishment — is doing its bit to eliminate Trump from the supposedly free presidential election due in November by aiding and abetting in assassinating his character in the eyes of the public.
It is ironic really given that there is so much more sordid stories to be reported on Clinton, given her involvement in warmongering, clandestine regime-change operations and abuse of state secrecy for her own self-aggrandizement with foreign sources of money.

The latest sign that the secretive US Deep State — Pentagon, CIA, FBI, Wall Street financiers — is moving to install their White House candidate is the letter published this week by some 50 senior Republican "national security experts" who endorsed Clinton while eviscerating Trump.
Yes, that's right, Republicans backing a Democrat. Which just goes to show the uniformity of interests.
The signatories included former CIA director Michael Hayden, ex-chief of homeland security Michael Chertoff, both of whom served in the George W Bush administration, as well as John Negroponte who was a former director of national intelligence and alleged purveyor of death squads in Central America during the 1980s.
The joint anti-Trump letter followed the publication only days ago of an oped piece in the New York Times by another ex-CIA head, Michael Morell in which he lambasted Trump as a Russian stooge.
All of these figures are intimately connected to the US Deep State and all are unanimously pillorying Trump as a "dangerous threat to American national security".
For his part, Trump rebuffed the latest volley of vilification by saying that the list of national security "experts" are responsible for creating the Iraq war, the loss of American troops' lives and the rise of terrorism across the Middle East. Cheekily, he thanked them for all going public with their names so that the American people can hold them to account for foreign policy disasters.
However, the point here is that the campaign to discredit Trump is not just some haphazard run of bad luck on the candidate's part for mis-steps and mis-speaks that he may have issued on the hustings trail.
The intense, concerted nature of the campaign to destroy Trump demonstrates how the Washington power structure, including the corporate media, is setting him up for character assassination.
This is the kind of political liquidation that the American plutocracy excels at.
A few decades ago, American "executive action" — or "termination with extreme prejudice — involved, more often than not, literally murdering the individual target.
The most notorious case is that of President John F Kennedy who was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas. Around that time, several other foreign political leaders were also killed by American state agents, including Patrice Lumumba of Congo, Rafael Trujillo of Dominican Republic and Ngo Dinh Diem of South Vietnam. Political murder was, still is, par for the American course.
The late New Orleans attorney, Jim Garrison, who probed the JFK assassination, said that the primary reason for his murder was that the president was working to end the Cold War with Russia. Kennedy was quietly using backchannels with Russian counterpart Nikita Krushchev to implement ambitious plans for nuclear weapons disarmament.
JFK had also flatly rejected secret proposals presented by the Pentagon for a pre-emptive nuclear strike on the Soviet Union. He was in addition closing down CIA-sponsored terrorist operations in Cuba and he had declared a withdrawal of US troops from the nascent Vietnam war.
In this way, Kennedy had entered the political kill zone, as far as the powerful, unelected Deep State was concerned. His policies were threatening huge vested interests of military manufacturers, Big Oil and Wall Street financiers. Hence, the CIA and its contract killers were deployed to eliminate the "problem".
Donald Trump shares two aspects with JFK. Like Kennedy, the business magnate is independently wealthy, which allows him to speak his mind without apparently having to ingratiate himself with powerful sponsors.
Secondly, and more importantly, Trump has repeatedly pitched his election platform against the relentless build up of the US-led NATO military alliance in Eastern Europe, as well as overseas deployment of American forces, and, in particular, Washington's policy of hostility towards Russia.
Trump has called for the normalization of relations with Russia. His foreign policy position is anathema to the Washington establishment which requires — as an absolute necessity — the demonization of foreign countries as "national security threats" in order to maintain the gargantuan US militarized economy. In short, the American Deep State thrives on continual war-making. War is a permanent function of bankrupt American capitalism.
This systemic dysfunction is what the Cold War with Russia was and continues to be about — the pumping of trillions of dollars into corporate and financial elites, who get away with the scam because of their lackeys among the political and media channels.
Anyone who defies these powerful American interests is liable for termination. They have entered the kill zone.
In former times, the American methods of termination with extreme prejudice routinely involved physical elimination.
Five decades after JFK, the US methods of political assassination have evolved to become more sophisticated. Character assassination may suffice most of the time. No need for contract hitmen or messy public enquiries. Media hitmen will do.
The target just needs to be placed in the crossfire of a media barrage, with no let up in negative shots.
Any foreign leader who likewise becomes a "problem" for US power interests is also targeted similarly. Russia's President Putin being perhaps the best example of this.
As the US presidential election approaches over the next three months, just watch how the shadowy powers in Washington mobilize to take Trump out of the race.
For taking out political enemies with extreme prejudice is the American way.

No. 307 dated 29 August 2017The South China Sea: Beijing’s Challenge to ASEAN and UNCLOS and the Necessity of a New Multi-tiered Approach

By Christopher Roberts

This Working Paper examines the South China Sea disputes and primarily focuses on developments since 2013 when the Philippines filed for international arbitration. The first part of the paper examines how the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China reacted to the arbitral process and the potential for the Association to undertake an effective and unified position in the future. The second part of the article builds on the analysis by assessing the prospects for, and likely impact of, the long-sought Code of Conduct. In the process, it examines the continued viability of ASEAN’s consensus-based decision-making approach, whether and how it could be reformed, and the potential benefits and viability of a new institutional arrangement with membership based on shared values and interests (rather than geography). The paper also argues that to enhance the possibility of redress on the issue, other key stakeholder states (such as Japan, Australia, India, and the United States) will need to be more strongly engaged and support claimant countries through a diverse array of activities. Such activities range from investments in capacity building to the provision of coastguards (if invited) to police and protect resources within the Exclusive Economic Zones of claimant states, as clarified by the July 2016 Arbitral Ruling.

China Is Risking the Lives of Political Prisoners by Denying Them Medical Care

Dissident activist Chen Xi entered Xingyi Prison in Guangxi in January 2012 to serve a 10-year sentence. The previous month, he had been convicted of “inciting subversion of state power” for writing articles about human rights and democracy. This wasn’t Chen’s first time in jail. He’d already spent a total of 13 years in prison, including three for participating in the 1989 pro-democracy movement. So to some extent, he was prepared for what lay ahead. But this prison term would be different.
Within a month, he had contracted frostbite on his hands after prison guards refused to give him warm clothes and blankets during the unusually cold winter. After two years, Chen began to suffer from chronic enteritis, a treatable inflammation of the digestive tract normally caused by contaminated food or drink. But Chen didn’t receive treatment. In December 2013 he began to have frequent bouts of severe diarrhea. When his wife visited him in mid-2014, he was extremely weak due to dehydration and fever, had lost a considerable amount of weight, and was in a poor mental state. By December of that year, Chen was psychologically distressed. By then, he had been suffering from untreated diarrhea for a year and had been repeatedly placed in solitary confinement. The prison has refused to grant him medical parole and reportedly told Chen’s wife it never would, despite its inability or unwillingness to treat him.

Disturbingly, Chen’s case is not an outlier. Dozens of political detainees and prisoners have reported being deprived of adequate medical treatment. These cases raise the question of what kind of treatment Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Liu Xiaobo received before his death in July 2017 due to complications from liver cancer. Chinese security agents and propaganda officials went into overdrive before and after his death, attempting to paint a picture that Liu received the best available medical care. However, during Liu’s seven years at Jinzhou Prison in Liaoning Province, authorities knew that Liu had hepatitis B, a disease that put him at greater risk for liver cancer. Yet, Liu’s cancer was so advanced when he was granted medical parole and moved to a hospital that no surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy could be performed, according to his wife, the poet Liu Xia.
Chinese law mandates that prisoners and individuals held in detention facilities receive prompt medical care; however, the reality is often far removed from the law. Deliberately depriving prisoners of medical care is a life-threatening form of torture, and appears to be commonly used against political prisoners on China. Many of these cases follow a similar pattern, starting with a decline in health from existing conditions or new injuries emerging due to torture or ill-treatment, denied access to adequate and prompt medical care, and a refusal to approve applications for medical bail or parole. Family members worry that the government will simply let their loved ones die behind bars; the death of China’s most famous political prisoner in police custody only strengthens that fear.
Another pressing case of deprived medical treatment is that of rural women’s rights activist Su Changlan. Su was detained in 2014 after posting social media messages in support of the Occupy Hong Kong pro-democracy protests. Authorities in Guangdong’s Foshan City arrested and charged Su with “inciting subversion of state power,” accusing her of trying to “overthrow the socialist system” with her articles and comments on WeChat. Su suffers from hyperthyroidism, which can be fatal if not treated. In custody, she has suffered from complications from a lack of treatment, including heart arrhythmia, trembling hands, swollen eyes, weight loss, and incontinence. Su told her lawyers in meetings throughout 2015 and 2016 about the poor or non-existent medical care she had been receiving, as well as the poor hygiene and living conditions.

Liu Xiaobo, 1955-2017

Perry Link, Thomas Kellogg & more
For more than two years, authorities repeatedly denied her lawyers’ applications to secure her release on medical bail. In March 2017, Su was found guilty and sentenced to three years in prison. Su’s health continued to dangerously deteriorate after her conviction, and she now reportedly suffers from possible kidney failure and is having difficulty speaking. Her husband, who visited her on June 2017—the first time that officials allowed him such a visit—told journalists, “Her health is much, much worse than it was before.” Su’s family fears her life is in danger and she won’t receive better treatment until she is released in October 2017.
The risk of death from deprived medical care is very real. On March 14, 2014, human rights activist Cao Shunli died after being deprived of medical treatment for over six months in a Beijing detention center. Police seized Cao, who had several manageable health conditions, in September 2013 to prevent her from traveling to Geneva to testify to the U.N. Human Rights Council about the human rights situation in China. Cao had a liver condition that she had managed in the past, but guards reportedly confiscated medication that she had with her. While Cao was held in a detention center, her health began to deteriorate, but authorities refused to approve her lawyers’ requests for medical bail. It was not until she was practically in a coma that bail was approved, and Cao died from organ failure only 22 days later. Other individuals who challenged the government and have died after being deprived of medical care in custody include petitioner-activists Chen Xiaoming and Duan Huimin in the mid-2000s, and more recently Tibetans Goshul Lobsang and Tenzin Delek Rinpoche.
The international community has spoken out about deprivation of medical treatment as a form of torture used against China’s political prisoners. U.N. human rights experts, in calling on China to provide adequate medical care for activist Guo Feixiong in August 2016, felt that, “His public profile as a human rights defender seems to have been the cause and aggravating factor for the denial of appropriate medical care and ill-treatment.”
Chinese President Xi Jinping has promised to “govern the country according to the law,” but the pattern of deprived medical care shows a disregard for the lives of human rights defenders and a lack of rule of law. Legislation requiring “prompt medical treatment” are not implemented, and other regulations and rules are deficient because they don’t contain legal guarantees that doctors in prisons or detention facilities can make independent medical decisions without interference from either law-enforcement or Chinese Communist Party (C.C.P.) officials.

China: A Life in Detention

Yang Zhanqing from New York Review of Books
Under the Regulations on Detention Facilities, detainees are only guaranteed a medical examination upon entering the detention facility. A request for treatment outside the facility must be approved by the head of the detention center, allowing for arbitrary decision-making in “politically sensitive” cases. The new draft Detention Center Law doesn’t contain any new language that would ensure prompt, impartial, and comprehensive medical treatment, exposing the government’s failure to act to end this disturbing trend. Though prisoners receive periodic medical checks, in practice exams are only required to be done once a year, and they may not be comprehensive or timely enough to detect health problems.
Securing release for medical reasons is also difficult. China’s Criminal Procedure Law allows for detainees and prisoners to receive medical bail or parole due to “serious illness.” However, the scope of what constitutes “serious illness” under detailed measures released in 2014 is extremely restrictive and requires some prisoners to endure six months of failed treatment before they can be eligible. Some Chinese lawyers who take on “politically sensitive” cases have reported that C.C.P. bodies, not medical professionals, must approve applications for medical release.
China has obligations under international law to ensure prisoners and detainees have access to prompt and adequate medical care, including seeing a doctor of their choice. Since 1988, China has been party to the Convention Against Torture, which bans torture and cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment. In December 2015, the U.N. Committee Against Torture raised concern over deaths in Chinese custody as a result of a lack of prompt medical care. A year prior, two other U.N. committees, on economic, social, and cultural rights and on women’s rights, called on China to ensure women in detention and human rights activists are provided with adequate health care in all circumstances, in respect of China’s treaty obligations.
China’s fellow members on the U.N. Human Rights Council should pressure the government to cooperate with the Council’s own independent human rights experts, who have highlighted concerns over the deprivation of medical care to human rights defenders. Such experts should be allowed, as some have in the past, to independently visit China’s prisons and detention centers to report on the standard and care of medical treatment. Other governments can and should continue to forcefully and publicly call on China to abide by its international obligations on torture and human rights. China’s respect for its responsibilities under international law is a matter of global concern.
As Dostoevsky famously wrote, “The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons.” In China, as seen in the cases of Chen Xi, Su Changlan, Cao Shunli, and so many others, the government refuses to behave in a civilized manner when it tortures prisoners of conscience by depriving them access to adequate medical treatment.

3 Questions on the China/India Border Dispute

3 Questions on the China/India Border Dispute

As the world's attention has focused on the North Korea nuclear crisis, Asia's two largest countries have been enmeshed in a tense border dispute. Since June 18, Indian and Chinese troops have engaged in a stand-off in Doklam, an area in the Himalayas some 10,000 feet above sea level, following China's decision to extend an existing road in the area. The dispute has also involved nearby Bhutan, a tiny Himalayan kingdom whose foreign policy is often defined by its much larger neighbors. And while both sides have every reason to avoid war over this issue, two months have passed without a resolution to the crisis.
In order to get a better sense of the origins of the dispute, as well as find out what's at stake, Asia Blog caught up with Asia Society Policy Institute Assistant Director Anubhav Gupta
Prior to this dispute, how would you characterize the state of China-India border relations? Did this come out of nowhere?
Skirmishes on the 2,500-mile India-China border are a common occurrence, and usually, disputes are resolved without much fanfare. Bilateral border management agreements have allowed India and China to quickly and peacefully conclude most disturbances. However, a few incidents have escalated enough to attract international attention and require diplomatic problem-solving. Since Xi Jinping became president of China, there have been three major standoffs on the border: one in April 2013, a two-week standoff in Ladakh the following year during Xi's visit to India, and now the current situation in Doklam.
The Doklam standoff is unique for a few reasons. First, it is not taking place in territory disputed between India and China, but rather in an area claimed by Bhutan and China, making it the first time Indian forces have challenged China in a third country. Second, this border area near the Indian state of Sikkim has actually been relatively peaceful in the past — most recent border incidents between India and China have taken place in the northwest in Ladakh or in the northeast in Arunachal Pradesh. Third, the incident has been going on for over two months, making it the longest border standoff between the two countries since the 1980’s.
Doklam is also significant because it comes at a time when India-China relations are already quite tenuous. Over the past two years, bilateral relations have soured significantly for a number of reasons. China’s strengthened friendship with Pakistan and Beijing's growing presence in South Asia and the Indian Ocean region have alarmed India. China also blocked India's prospective membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) and has not supported Indian efforts to sanction Pakistani militant groups in multilateral fora. India, for its part, has upset China by engaging with the Dalai Lama and spurning Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
China’s decision to continue building a road in disputed territory — the origin of the Doklam standoff — and India’s decision to interject is a sign that the two Asian powers are standing up to one another more stridently than they have in the past.
What kind of role does Bhutan play in the context of Sino-Indian relations?
Bhutan does not have formal diplomatic ties with China due to long-running territorial disputes and the Himalayan country's strong historical ties to Tibet. Meanwhile, Thimphu has historically been closely allied with India. The 1949 Friendship Treaty between the two gave Delhi an explicit role in guiding Bhutan’s external relations. Though the treaty was revised in 2007 to diminish India’s role, it still states that the two countries “shall cooperate closely with each other on issues relating to their national interests” and that “neither government shall allow the use of territory for activities harmful to the national security and interest of others.” India has pointed to this treaty to justify its interference at Doklam.
History suggests that Bhutan would vocally take India’s side in the Doklam standoff. But bizarrely, Bhutan has been quiet, issuing only one statement asking China to withdraw — but not mentioning India at all. Bhutan’s public reticence to taking the Indian side may have to do with the fact that Thimpu wishes to resolve multiple border disputes with Beijing and is likely worried about getting caught up in an active China-India conflict. As democracy has taken hold in the country, Bhutan has also shown growing frustration with its dependency on India and what some perceive to be Delhi’s overbearing approach to the kingdom.
This makes Bhutan’s role in the current standoff interesting and important. Bhutan has become ground zero for strategic competition between India and China in South Asia. India claims to have intervened on Bhutan’s request, but China, on the other hand, contends that Bhutan did not invite India to intervene and that Delhi is once again infringing on the small kingdom’s sovereignty. This puts Bhutan in an unenviable position — caught between two giants — and may explain its silence during the current border standoff.
What do you think happens next in this dispute? What are the risks to broader Sino-Indian relations?
Neither side wants or can afford a war, making deliberate escalation unlikely. But it's not out of the question. The probability of China resorting to force remains low given the costs of war, but this depends on how far China wants to go to show that it is serious about defending what it considers Chinese territory, and how strongly it is willing to push back against challenges in its neighborhood.
Just this month, Xi Jinping declared in a speech, “We will never permit anybody, any organization, any political party to split off any piece of Chinese territory from China at any time or in any form.” How strongly does he hold to that view and how seriously should the world take him? With nationalist furor high in China and an important Party Congress this fall, there is little hope that Xi will back down unilaterally anytime soon. So the most realistic scenario right now appears to be a prolonged standoff in Doklam.
The more immediate danger is the risk of an accident leading to active fighting on the border. Both sides need to work diplomatically to ensure that such a scenario does not materialize in Doklam, but also that flare-ups elsewhere on the India-China border don’t spiral out of control. It is very dangerous that in the midst of the Doklam standoff, a troubling skirmish took place between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh on August 15.
The rhetoric emanating from both sides, especially China, has been more pointed and heated than during previous standoffs. Unlike India and Bhutan, China has been vigorous in its public diplomacy, issuing numerous statements as well as a 15-page dossier outlining the facts and claims as China sees them. Beijing clearly wants to increase pressure on India, but the back and forth can inflame relations as well.

HAARP: Weather Control

Is the HAARP Project a Weather Control Weapon?

"It isn't just conspiracy theorists who are concerned about HAARP. The European Union called the project a global concern and passed a resolution calling for more information on its health and environmental risks. Despite those concerns, officials at HAARP insist the project is nothing more sinister than a radio science research facility."
-- From documentary on HAARP project's weather control by Canada's CBC

HAARP: What is it?

Google:  HAARP array: Gakona, Alaska
HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) is a little-known, yet critically important U.S. military defense project which has generated quite a bit of controversy over its alleged weather control capabilities and much more.
Though denied by HAARP project officials, some respected researchers allege that secret electromagnetic warfare capabilities of the project are designed to forward the US military's stated goal of achieving full-spectrum dominance by the year 2020.
Others go so far as to claim that HAARP can and has been used for weather control, to cause earthquakes and tsunamis, to disrupt global communications systems, and more. They point to major aspects of the program which are kept secret for alleged reasons of "national security." The U.S. patent of a key developer of HAARP and other documentary evidence support these claims. And there is no doubt that electromagnetic weapons capable of being used in warfare do exist. The project's $300 million price tag also suggests more is going on than meets the eye.
According to the official HAARP website, "HAARP is a scientific endeavor aimed at studying the properties and behavior of the ionosphere, with particular emphasis on being able to understand and use it to enhance communications and surveillance systems for both civilian and defense purposes." The ionosphere is the delicate upper layer of our atmosphere which ranges from about 30 miles (50 km) to 600 miles (1,000 km) above the Earth's surface.
The HAARP project website acknowledges that experiments are conducted which use electromagnetic frequencies to fire pulsed, directed energy beams in order to "temporarily excite a limited area of the ionosphere." Some scientists state that purposefully disturbing this sensitive layer could have major and even disastrous consequences. Concerned HAARP researchers like Dr. Michel Chossudovsky of the University of Ottawa and Alaska's Dr. Nick Begich(son of a US Congressman) present evidence suggesting that these disturbances can even be used to trigger earthquakes, affect hurricanes,
Who Created HAARP?
Dr. Bernard Eastlund is the scientist whose name is most associated with the creation and development of the HAARP project. His revealing website provides reliable information on his involvement with the project. A 1987 patent issued to Dr. Eastlund is titled "Method and apparatus for altering a region in the earth's atmosphere, ionosphere, and/or magnetosphere." In this patent, which sets the stage for HAARP, Dr. Eastlund makes a number of fascinating statements which clearly contradict the claim that it is only being used for research and not for military purposes or such purposes as weather control. Here are a few of key statements taken verbatim from the patent:
  • [The] temperature of the ionosphere has been raised by hundreds of degrees in these experiments.
  • A means and method is provided to cause interference with or even total disruption of communications over a very large portion of the earth. This invention could be employed to disrupt not only land based communications, both civilian and military, but also airborne communications and sea communications. This would have significant military implications.
  • It is possible ... to take advantage of one or more such beams to carry out a communications network even though the rest of the world's communications are disrupted.
  • [It] can be used to an advantage for positive communication and eavesdropping purposes.
  • Exceedingly large amounts of power can be very efficiently produced and transmitted.
  • This invention has a phenomenal variety of ... potential future developments. Large regions of the atmosphere could be lifted to an unexpectedly high altitude so that missiles encounter unexpected and unplanned drag forces with resultant destruction or deflection. Weather modification is possible by, for example, altering upper atmosphere wind patterns or altering solar absorption patterns by constructing one or more plumes of atmospheric particles which will act as a lens or focusing device. Ozone, nitrogen, etc. concentrations in the atmosphere could be artificially increased.
  • Electromagnetic pulse defenses are also possible. The earth's magnetic field could be decreased or disrupted at appropriate altitudes to modify or eliminate the magnetic field.
For those with any background in science, you might find it quite revealing to explore this patent in more detail. And remember that since the time of this patent, in which Alaska is mentioned several times as the ideal location, the government fully acknowledges that it has built a massive array of antennas in Alaska with the capability of disturbing the ionosphere exactly as described in Eastlund's patent. HAARP DocumentarieTwo key major media documentaries, one by Canada's public broadcasting network CBC and the other by the History Channel, reveal the inner workings of the HAARP project in a most powerful way. The very well researched CBC documentary includes this key quote:
"It isn't just conspiracy theorists who are concerned about HAARP. In January of 1999, the European Union called the project a global concern and passed a resolution calling for more information on its health and environmental risks. Despite those concerns, officials at HAARP insist the project is nothing more sinister than a radio science research facility."
The European Union (EU) document which brings HAARP and similar electromagnetic weapons into question can be verified here. The actual wording at bullet point 24 in this telling document states that the EU "considers HAARP by virtue of its far-reaching impact on the environment to be a global concern and calls for its legal, ecological and ethical implications to be examined by an international independent body before any further research and testing." This revealing document further states that the EU regrets the repeated refusal of the U.S. government to give evidence on the project.
This engaging 15-minute CBC documentary is available for free viewing. An even more detailed and revealing 45-minute History Channel documentary on HAARP and other secret weapons used for electromagnetic warfare is available here. Here are two quotes from the History Channel documentary:
"Electromagnetic weapons ... pack an invisible wallop hundreds of times more powerful than the electrical current in a lightning bolt. One can blast enemy missiles out of the sky, another could be used to blind soldiers on the battlefield, still another to control an unruly crowd by burning the surface of their skin. If detonated over a large city, an electromagnetic weapon could destroy all electronics in seconds. They all use directed energy to create a powerful electromagnetic pulse."
"Directed energy is such a powerful technology it could be used to heat the ionosphere to turn weather into a weapon of war. Imagine using a flood to destroy a city or tornadoes to decimate an approaching army in the desert. If an electromagnetic pulse went off over a city, basically all the electronic things in your home would wink and go out, and they would be permanently destroyed. The military has spent a huge amount of time on weather modification as a concept for battle environments."
Another video along similar lines, the excellent History Channel documentary titled "The Invisible Machine: Electromagnetic Warfare," is available here. For those who still doubt that such devastating secret weapons have been developed, here is an intriguing quote from an article in New Zealand's leading newspaper, the New Zealand Herald:
"Top-secret wartime experiments [WWII] were conducted off the coast of Auckland to perfect a tidal wave bomb, declassified files reveal. United States defence chiefs said that if the project had been completed before the end of the war, it could have played a role as effective as that of the atom bomb. Details of the tsunami bomb, known as Project Seal, are contained in 53-year-old documents released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade."
If the military secretly developed a weapon which could cause a tsunami over half a century ago, what kind of advanced deadly weapons might be available now? And why is it that the general public still doesn't know about secret weapons developed over 50 years ago? Clearly the military has the capability to cause a tsunami and likely to cause earthquakes and hurricanes, as well. To understand why the media isn't covering these highly critical issues, see this revealing essay. It's time to take action to spread the word on this vital topic. And for another excellent documentary on HAARP, which includes an extensive interview with Dr. Bernard Eastlund, watch "Holes in Heaven."

Secrecy Around the Project

Having interpreted for top generals in my work as a language interpreter with the US Department of State, I learned that military planners are always interested in developing the most devastating weapons possible. Yet these weapons are kept secret as long as possible, allegedly for reasons of national security. The many layers of intense secrecy both in the military and government result in very few people being aware of the gruesome capabilities for death and destruction
The massive Manhattan Project (development of the first atomic bomb) is one such example. The building of an entire city to support the project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee was successfully kept secret even from the state's governor. The stealth bomber was kept top secret for many years, and the public still has no way of knowing it's full capabilities. It is through the use of the highly organized military and intelligence services that the power elite of our world, in cooperation with key allies in government and corporate ownership of the media, are able to carry out major cover-ups and secret operations like those involved with HAARP.
Some researchers have raised questions about the possible involvement of HAARP in major disasters like the earthquakes in Haiti and Japan, the Indonesian tsunami, and hurricane KatrinaCould these have been HAARP experiments gone awry? Might they even have been caused by rogue elements which gained control of this devastating technology? Disasters like this happen naturally on a regular basis, yet if you begin to research, there is some high strangeness around some of these disasters. The evidence is inconclusive, yet with the known and unknown major destructive capabilities of this weapon, serious questions remain.

HAARP and Manipulation of Emotions

The capability of influencing and even controlling human emotions has been studied by the military and intelligence services of the world for many decades. A concise, information-packed description of such programs with links to declassified CIA documents for verification is available here. One thoroughly researched book titled Mind Controllers describes an effective method of remotely influencing human emotions. Here's a key quote from this revealing book:
"With the use of powerful computers, segments of human emotions which include anger, anxiety, sadness, fear, embarrassment, jealousy, resentment, shame, and terror, have been identified and isolated within the EEG signals as 'emotion signature clusters.' Their relevant frequencies and amplitudes have been measured. Then the very frequency/amplitude cluster is synthesized and stored on another computer. Each one of these negative emotions is properly and separately tagged. They are then placed on the Silent Sound carrier frequencies and could silently trigger the occurrence of the same basic emotion in another human being."
An excellent 10-page summary of the book is available here. For the section focused on nonlethal weapons, which includes the above quote, see this page. Using HAARP's powerful broadcast capabilities, it is within the realm of possibility that powerful antennas like that of HAARP and major facilities elsewhere could triangulate on an exact location anywhere in the world and send highly intensified frequencies matching the emotion signature of a desired emotion to produce anger or any other desired emotion in a group of people, as the human mind naturally entrains to strong frequencies around it.
This may all sound quite unbelievable to those who are not versed in the secret ways of of the military-intelligence complex. Yet there is strong evidence to support this possibility. Here is the abstract of U.S. patent number 5,159,703, approved in 1992, over twenty years ago:
"A silent communications system in which nonaural carriers, in the very low or very high audio frequency range or in the adjacent ultrasonic frequency spectrum, are amplitude or frequency modulated with the desired intelligence and propagated acoustically or vibrationally, for inducement into the brain, typically through the use of loudspeakers, earphones or piezoelectric transducers. The modulated carriers may be transmitted directly in real time or may be conveniently recorded and stored on mechanical, magnetic or optical media for delayed or repeated transmission to the listener."
You can view the entire patent on the U.S. Patent and Trade Office website at this link. Below are the listed objects of the invention in that patent:
  1. to provide a technique for producing a subliminal presentation which is inaudible to the listener(s), yet is perceived and demodulated (decoded) by the ear for use by the subconscious mind.
  2. to provide a technique for transmitting inaudible subliminal information to the listener(s) at a constant, high level of signal strength and on a clear band of frequencies.
  3. to provide a technique for producing inaudible subliminal presentations to which music or other "foreground" programming may be added, if desired.
In other words, the subliminal messages could be inserted into TV and radio waves without the awareness of the listener or viewer. Such messages could easily be beamed from satellites, as well, triangulated on a desired location. Using the incredible broadcasting capabilities of HAARP, these subliminal message could conceivably even be broadcast over a larger area to create the desired effect on an entire population. Sounds scary doesn't it? So why is this not being discussed more widely?
An informative paper on the usage of the silent sound technology and it's implications is available here. At least a dozen other patents have been approved related to the usage of technology designed to cause subliminal changes in desired targets. A list and brief descriptions of many of these patents with links for verification is available on this webpage. Here's a sample quote from Patent #6,506,148:
"It is therefore possible to manipulate the nervous system of a subject by pulsing images displayed on a nearby computer monitor or TV set. For the latter, the image pulsing may be imbedded in the program material, or it may be overlaid by modulating a video stream."
Clearly, technologies have been developed and refined with the specific purpose of passing subliminal messages unbeknownst to the target. The capability of remotely influencing emotions through the use of certain wave lengths has been successfully demonstrated. The implications are huge. Yet there is exceedingly little regulation of how this technology will be used. By educating yourself on this important matter and spreading the word to your friends and colleagues, you can make a difference in building the necessary momentum to bring these matters to light and to ensure they are not used in disempowering ways.
Jesse Ventura, the former Navy Seal who turned pro wrestler only to then become governor of Minnesota, has a TV special on HAARP that is a bit sensationalized, yet contains useful information. 1. Important Update: Since the original publication of this report, some external webpages linked to were removed. We used to find copies of the disappeared pages. And a July 2013 articlestated HAARP was officially shuttered in June 2013. Yet a May 2014 article contradicts this stating it will close "after a final research experiment takes place in mid-June" of 2014. This may be an excuse to stop the live broadcasting of HAARP's signals on a public website, which provided fodder for conspiracy theorists. Watch a six-minute video on a 2014 Senate hearing which discussed the future of HAARP. With all the intense secrecy around the project for reasons of "national security," it's hard to know what is really happening.
